Pet-Friendly Cabin Rental Pricing in Broken Bow OK: Fees & What to Expect
A pet-friendly cabin stay in Broken Bow typically costs between $1,650 and $2,700 for a 3-night family getaway, depending on cabin size, season, and location. This total includes the nightly rate, cleaning fee, pet fee, and Oklahoma taxes, which apply to all three. Understanding each cost component upfront helps you budget accurately and avoid surprise charges at checkout.
Let's break down exactly what you'll pay and where your money goes when you book a pet-friendly cabin in this popular Oklahoma destination.

Why Choose Broken Bow Family Cabins:
"We absolutely loved our stay! From the moment we arrived, we felt right at home. The highlight was the peaceful stream running alongside the cabin, sitting outside listening to the water was pure relaxation."

Before you can understand the full cost of your stay, you need a solid baseline for nightly rates. Broken Bow's cabin market spans a wide range, and the right cabin for your trip depends on your group size and travel dates. Here's how the pricing tiers break down across the market:
One thing worth noting: a pet-friendly designation typically does not add a premium to the base nightly rate. Hosts price cabins by size, amenities, and season, not by whether your dog is coming along. The pet fee is handled separately, which I'll cover in the next section.
Seasonal timing matters more than almost anything else when it comes to what you'll pay. Fall foliage season (late October through early November) and summer lake weekends (June through August) are peak periods, expect to pay a 25–50% premium over base rates. Book those dates 3–6 months out if you can. On the flip side, winter weekdays in January and February typically offer 15–30% discounts, and you'll have far more availability to choose from.
Pet fees in Broken Bow are almost always structured as a flat, one-time charge per stay, not a nightly add-on. Across the market, that flat fee typically runs $75–$250 for up to one or two dogs. My cabins charge a flat $150 for up to two dogs, which sits squarely in the market average for quality pet-friendly accommodations in this area.
These fees are non-refundable. They exist to cover the additional cleaning and wear-and-tear that comes with a pet stay, not just to compensate for specific damage. If a host charges a separate refundable pet damage deposit on top of the pet fee, that's a different line item, and you should confirm its refundability before you book. Don't assume they're the same thing.
If you're traveling with cats or other pets, policies vary widely across the market. Always ask the host directly before booking, don't assume "pet-friendly" means all animals are welcome.
✓ Pet Fees Are Standard, Not a Penalty
If you're worried that a pet fee means the host doesn't want your dog, don't be. Pet fees are a normal, expected part of pet-friendly rentals and reflect the real costs of extra cleaning and care. A transparent pet fee disclosed upfront is actually a sign of a professional, experienced host, it means they've done this before and they're prepared for your pup.
Cleaning fees are charged on every stay, pet or no pet, and they scale with cabin size. Here's what to budget:
One thing many guests don't realize: cleaning fees are taxable under Oklahoma law. The state and local tax rate applies to the combined subtotal of your base rate and cleaning fee, not just the nightly rate alone. That distinction changes your final number more than most guests expect, which is why I always want guests to see the full picture before they book.
Beyond nightly rates, pet fees, and cleaning fees, a small number of hosts may charge additional fees for excessive trash, early check-in, or late checkout. These are less common with owner-operated properties, but worth asking about if your travel plans are flexible on timing.
Oklahoma's short-term rental tax structure is one of the most misunderstood parts of booking a cabin here. Most guests assume taxes apply only to the nightly rate. They don't. Oklahoma applies state sales tax, county sales tax, and local lodging tax to the base rate, cleaning fee, and pet fee combined. The jurisdiction your cabin sits in determines the total rate, and the difference is significant.
⚠ Don't Get Surprised by Hidden Taxes
Oklahoma applies sales and lodging taxes to your base rate, cleaning fee, AND pet fee. Depending on whether your cabin is in Hochatown (16.25% tax) or unincorporated McCurtain County (9.25% tax), your total cost can vary significantly. Always ask the host which jurisdiction applies to your booking before you finalize your reservation.
| Tax Component | Inside Hochatown | Unincorporated McCurtain County |
|---|---|---|
| State Sales Tax | 4.50% | 4.50% |
| County Sales Tax | 1.75% | 1.75% |
| Town Sales Tax | 3.00% | , |
| County Lodging Tax | 3.00% | 3.00% |
| Town Lodging Tax | 4.00% | , |
| Total Tax Rate | 16.25% | 9.25% |
That 7-percentage-point gap between jurisdictions isn't trivial. On a $2,000 pre-tax subtotal, that's a $140 difference in taxes alone. When you're comparing two cabins at similar nightly rates, knowing which jurisdiction each sits in can change which one is actually the better deal.
When you book through Airbnb or VRBO, you're not just paying the host's listed price. OTA platforms add a service fee of 5–15% on top of the nightly rate and cleaning fee, charged to you, the guest, before taxes are even calculated. On a $1,500 subtotal, that's $75–$225 going straight to the platform, not toward your stay.
Book direct and that fee disappears entirely. Industry data from 2024–2025 shows that 20–30% of leisure STR guests are actively seeking direct booking options, and the primary reason is straightforward: price. Avoiding the platform fee is the single fastest way to reduce your total cost without changing anything about the cabin you're booking.
Direct booking also gives you something OTAs can't replicate: a real conversation with the person who owns and manages the cabin. If something comes up before or during your stay, you're not navigating a platform's support queue, you're talking directly to me. That matters, especially when you're traveling with pets and want to confirm the specifics before you load up the car.
💡 Booking Direct Saves Hundreds
OTA platforms charge 5–15% in service fees on top of your nightly rate and cleaning fee. By booking directly with a cabin owner like Broken Bow Family Cabins, you eliminate these fees entirely and get better, faster communication with the host. On a $2,000 stay, direct booking can save you $100–$300, enough to cover a nice dinner out with the family.

Here's how the numbers stack up for a realistic 3-night stay in a family-sized cabin (2–3BR, sleeps up to 8) with two dogs. These figures use the nightly rate, cleaning fee, and pet fee ranges discussed above, with taxes applied per jurisdiction.
| Cost Component | Direct Booking Unincorporated County (9.25%) |
OTA Booking Hochatown (16.25%) |
|---|---|---|
| 3 Nights Base Rate | $1,200–$1,800 | $1,200–$1,800 |
| Cleaning Fee | $180–$220 | $180–$220 |
| Pet Fee (2 dogs) | $150 | $150 |
| OTA Service Fee (~10%) | , | $138–$202 |
| Oklahoma Taxes | $127–$187 (9.25%) | $224–$328 (16.25%) |
| Estimated Total | $1,657–$2,357 | $1,892–$2,700 |
The direct booking advantage is $235–$343 on the same cabin, a meaningful difference that comes entirely from eliminating the OTA service fee and booking in a lower-tax jurisdiction. Peak season adds another 25–50% to the base rate across both scenarios, so planning your trip during shoulder season (spring or early fall before peak foliage) can save you even more.
If you're browsing options for a mid-size group, cabins like Dancing Rabbit Lodge or Sundance Lodge are solid examples of the family-sized tier, both sit comfortably in the pricing range illustrated above. For larger groups needing 12+ beds, Tall Timbers Lodge sleeps up to 22 guests and is worth a look for reunions or extended family trips.

No, pet fees in the Broken Bow market are almost universally non-refundable. These fees cover the additional cleaning required after a pet stay and general wear-and-tear, not just specific damage incidents. If a host charges a separate refundable pet damage deposit on top of the pet fee, that portion may be returned if no damage occurs, but the pet fee itself is not. Always confirm the refundability status of every fee line before you complete your booking.
A $150 flat pet fee for up to two dogs is typical and in line with the market average in Broken Bow and Hochatown. Pet fees across this area commonly range from $75 to $250 per stay, reflecting the real costs of increased cleaning, maintenance, and potential wear-and-tear on the property. A $150 fee falls squarely within the expected range for quality pet-friendly accommodations, it's neither a bargain-basement indicator nor a premium charge.
You are typically financially responsible for damage that exceeds the non-refundable pet fee. Many hosts require a separate refundable damage deposit or use accidental damage protection insurance to cover such incidents. The pet fee is designed to cover general upkeep and routine extra cleaning, not extensive repairs or replacement costs. Read your rental agreement carefully before your stay so you understand the host's damage policy and your liability going in.
Yes, many of the hiking trails within Beavers Bend State Park allow leashed dogs, making it a fantastic destination for outdoor adventures with your canine companion. Keep your dog on a leash for their safety and for wildlife preservation, and check with the park's visitor center for any specific trail restrictions on the day you visit. Always clean up after your pet, and bring water for both of you on longer trails. The local activities page has more on what to do in and around the park.
